What is a Hydrafacial Treatment?

Who doesn’t want to have smooth, youthful-looking skin? Rather than spending thousands of pounds on oils, creams, and other treatments, it’s now possible to achieve the same natural glow with a facial that’s becoming increasingly popular.

Those who already love these treatments call it a way to maintain long-term skin health. This treatment is more than your standard spa treatment. Hydrafacials go beyond the typical spa facial in many ways. They’re growing in popularity and are available in over 80 countries worldwide, including the UK.

A hydrafacial is a multi-step facial treatment usually given with a proprietary machine called the HydraFacial MD, made by Edge Systems. In only one treatment session, aestheticians use the device to cleanse, exfoliate, extract, and deliver rejuvenating creams.

The treatment has become extremely popular because of the instant results it offers in firming and brightening the skin. It’s possible for a person to have the treatment before a big event or regularly done to maintain their skin’s health.

How is Our Hydrafacial Leeds Treatment Done?

At Medi Spa, our hydrafacial brings your skin to life with a six-stage process. Stage one improves lymphatic drainage to help increase circulation and bring oxygen to the cells. This stage can also release hydration and firm the skin.

Stage 2: Applies the hydrafacial tip to the skin’s surface to cleanse and exfoliate dead skin cells. During this stage, we also apply a serum to boost nourishment of the skin.

During stage 3, we use a salicylic acid solution to help loosen debris caught in the pores.

Stage four is next, where we remove blackheads and other impurities using gentle suction.

An infusion of hyaluronic acid, peptides, and powerful antioxidants is applied to the skin during stage 5. These work to restore the hydration of your skin.

The treatment is completed with stage 6 when we apply LED light therapy to calm inflammation and increase collagen production through the use of red and infrared light.

The end result of our hydrafacial is a beautiful, rested, glowing appearance. Your family and friends will believe you’ve been on a lovely vacation!

The hydrafacial is appropriate for all skin types; however, anyone who has an active rash, sunburn, or moderate to severe acne, or rosacea should avoid having this treatment. In addition, pregnant women should also skip this treatment. Some ingredients used during the hydrafacial haven’t been tested and proven safe for use during pregnancy (such as salicylic acid). Another consideration is that it may be necessary to slightly alter your normal skin-care routine before your appointment. It’s best to stop using prescription creams a few days before the treatment to avoid skin irritation.

No, an anaesthetic is not required for this treatment. The hydrafacial is a non-invasive treatment that does not use abrasive methods or pierce the skin. Many of our patients say it’s very relaxing and completely pain-free.

It’s normal for your skin to feel somewhat sensitive after a hydrafacial treatment. We advise our patients to avoid strong sunlight and to use a high SPF applied to their skin before going outside. In addition, strenuous activities and saunas can cause the skin to become hot, which should be avoided for about 48 hours after treatment. Finally, harsh skin treatments should not be applied to the treatment area for up to two weeks.

You’ll be happy to learn that no downtime is necessary after a hydrafacial treatment. You can go about your day as normal, including heading back to the office after treatment.

The cost of our hydrafacial treatments depends on various factors. Here’s a guide to our pricing, which may be subject to change. Individual: £150x3: £400-£675x6: £540-£900.
