What’s Involved

Augmenting the breasts usually involves the placing of silicone implants. These are inserted through carefully placed incisions made around the outside areola and extend down to the breast crease. As all bodies are unique to the individual, so too is the approach that your surgeon takes. The breasts can often be slightly different in size, which may require independent implants. This will help to produce breasts that are more balanced in size and shape.

Implants are designed to last for around 15 years. It will be necessary to have them removed after this time when you can choose to have them replaced.

Treatment Duration

At LPH we often complete breast augmentation in around 2-3 hours. Our surgeons will use the most suitable approach to surgery and will tailor their techniques to ensure they meet your needs. Breast augmentation can be used in combination with other surgical procedures for the body to help improve the overall appearance and contouring.

Type Of Anaesthesia

Due to the nature of the surgery, we use a general anaesthetic so you will be asleep throughout the entire thing. We will ensure you are fully recovered and have been thoroughly assessed before we allow you to go home, and you will need to arrange transport.

Aftercare Requirements

Adjusting your activity levels to accommodate your body’s healing and recovery will be essential to a successful outcome, and long-term results are expected. As well as taking medication to relieve pain and prevent inflammation, you will need to wear a surgical support bra for up to 6 weeks.

Back To Work (Recovery)

Each patient will heal and recover at their own speed. We generally expect you will be able to return to work in around 2-4 weeks, with a full recovery in around 6 weeks. A successful outcome will rely on following your aftercare plan, and keeping activity levels low until your body is comfortable and moving more freely.
