What’s Involved

Each patient will require an individual approach to this procedure which may involve a full or partial facelift / neck lift. By making discreet incisions, either around the hairline or behind the ears, the skin can be pulled and tightened – with any excess trimmed away. Depending on the techniques we use, the muscles may also be tightened.

A mini-facelift will often address the upper face, and the full face / neck lift will treat the entire facial profile – mid-face, jawline and skin around the neck. This procedure may achieve the desired results on its own, or can be combined with other facial surgery / treatments.

Key Considerations

Treatment Duration

The type of facelift that is required will determine the treatment duration. For a mini facelift, we may complete the procedure in 1-1.5 hours, however a full face / neck lift may take longer. If other surgical procedures are also being performed (such as eyelid surgery), treatment duration may be extended.

Type Of Anaesthesia

We may use either a local anaesthetic (with sedation) or general anaesthetic for facial rejuvenation and contouring. This will be determined by the approach we’ll take and the techniques we intend to use. Before discharging patients from our care, a thorough examination will take place and all aftercare will be advised.

Aftercare Requirements

Rest is always advisable after any surgical procedure. Taking it easy for around 2 weeks will require low activity levels, and no heavy lifting / strenuous exercise. Sometimes we advise wearing a bandage around the head and neck for a few days following the procedure. We will arrange a follow-up appointment 1 week after the surgery, when we may remove any stitches. Post-treatment discomfort can be managed with over-the-counter pain relief.

Back To Work (Recovery)

A full recovery may take around 2-3 weeks. During this time swelling and bruising will significantly improve, and the patient will become more comfortable. Typically, 2 weeks may need to be taken off work (depending on the type of work), and activity levels should be kept low.
