Appearance Analysis

The appearance analysis of OBSERV®520x starts with a unique skin journey through the different skin layers. The outermost layer of the epidermis is the only layer that is visible to the eyes (daylight picture). The skin surface texture is formed by epithelial tissues. The stratum basal where pigments are created by melanocytes, is mainly responsible for the skin tone – skin colour and pigmentations.

Since the network of microvascular structures feed the dermis with oxygen rich blood from blood vessels, the cause of inflammations and skin redness can often be found here.

OBSERV®520x uses different patented LED’s and multiple filter technology allowing far more clarity and accuracy, which results in an unparalleled view of the skin- above and below.

Diagnostic Modes

The skin analysis side of this Quick Reference guide contains 4 diagnostic modes for in-depth skin assessments. Skin, both epidermal and dermal layers can be considered as translucent, inhomogeneous material. Within these layers, light is scattered and absorbed by various substances like melanin, collagen, fibres and blood vessels.

1. Parallel Polarised

The parallel polarisation mode enhances glare reflections of the surface texture.

2. Cross Polarised

The cross polarised mode suppresses surface shine and allows a view into the skin.

3. True UV

The cells of the skin are illuminated via fluorescence revealing skin health conditions.

4. Woods

The distribution of the hydrolipid film becomes visible as well as areas of skin with impaired structural integrity.
