Regardless of the approach chosen, the procedure entails making an incision, typically horizontally on the lower abdomen, varying in length. Excess skin and fat are then removed before the incision is closed. A tummy tuck can result in restored definition and contouring of the stomach, and in some instances, it can also strengthen the internal muscles.
Incisions are usually made discreetly to allow for easy concealment by clothing. In the case of a full abdominoplasty, repositioning the belly button may also be necessary.
